Spotify royalty calculator
By the Slappcard teamFacts last checked
A Spotify royalty calculator turns a per-stream rate you enter into the number of streams that reach a target amount, and the direct sales that reach the same amount.
We make Slappcards, printed download cards. This calculator is free and works whether or not you ever buy one.
Work out the streams
Type the rate from your statement and the amount you want to reach. Add a sale price if you want the same amount in items sold at a show. The sums stay in this tab.
People ask how many streams it takes to make $1,000.00. Type any amount. The box starts empty.
Spotify says it does not pay a fixed amount per stream. You are paid from your share of total streams, which Spotify calls streamshare, and your label or distributor pays you under your own deal.
What the numbers mean
Loud and Clear says that in 2025, one in every 1,000,000 streams on Spotify equaled $11,000.00 on average. Dividing those two figures is our arithmetic: $0.011 a stream. That is an average for rightsholders across the service, not the rate on your statement. The button fills it only when you ask.

Streams and sales round up to a whole number, so the result reaches the target instead of stopping just short. That rounding is our arithmetic.
The optional cost is what one sale costs you. For cards, that is the pack price divided by the number of cards in the pack. The menu can fill a published pack. It does not set a sale price.
- Our arithmetic: $120.00 for 100 cards is $1.20 a card.
- Our arithmetic: $140.00 for 250 cards is $0.56 a card.
- Our arithmetic: $160.00 for 500 cards is $0.32 a card.
- Our arithmetic: $180.00 for 1,000 cards is $0.18 a card.
The show routine is in how to sell your music at shows. A whole table of prices goes in the merch profit calculator.
Questions
What per-stream rate should I enter?
Type the per-stream figure from your own distributor statement. Spotify says it does not pay a fixed amount per stream, so this box starts empty. A button can fill Spotify's 2025 average, and the page says what that number is and is not. Your label or distributor pays you under your deal.
Does Spotify pay a fixed rate per stream?
No. Spotify's help page says it does not pay artist royalties according to a per-play or per-stream rate. Loud and Clear says a per-stream rate is not how anyone gets paid, on Spotify or any other major service. Payment follows your share of streams. The box on this page stays empty until you type a rate.
What is the 2025 average on this page?
Loud and Clear says one in every 1,000,000 streams in 2025 equaled $11,000.00 on average. Our arithmetic divides those figures and gets $0.011 a stream. It describes rightsholders across Spotify, not your statement, and not what you keep after your label or distributor takes its share.
How many streams does it take to reach a target?
Divide the target by the rate you entered, then round up to a whole stream. A target of 1000 dollars is only an example you can type. It is not a promise about what a stream pays. Change the rate and the target and the stream count changes with them. Nothing on this page picks a rate for you.
How do direct sales compare?
Direct sales are how many items you must sell, at a price you type, to reach the same target. The count rounds up to a whole sale. If you also type what one sale costs you, a second count shows how many sales clear the target after that cost. Leave the price blank and that count stays hidden.
What is the optional cost per sale?
It is what one sale costs you, not the price a fan pays. For a pack of cards, use the pack price divided by the number of cards. That split is our arithmetic, from the pack prices on this site, and the menu can fill it. The sale price stays empty until you type what you charge at the table.
Does this calculator save my numbers?
No. It runs in your browser and keeps the figures on this tab only. Nothing is uploaded, and there is no account to sign in to. Reload the page and the boxes are empty again. Write down a result you want to keep. Closing the tab clears the rest. This page is not a statement.
Does this host my music or collect emails?
No. This page only does the sums. It does not host a listening page, collect an email or hand you a fan list. A pack of cards is the printed card and the private page, and you order that from the designer. The calculator stays free either way, and it never asks you to sign in.
Need something custom?
For a card count we do not list, or a run that is not a standard pack, ask for a free consultation. If the form does not open, email contact@slappcard.com.

Sell it at the show
A Slappcard at the table is a printed card with your music on a private page. This calculator only compares the two ways of reaching a number. Packs of 100 to 1,000 cards start at $120.00. Free shipping to the US and Canada.
The sell-at-shows guide is the routine. The merch calculator is where a whole table of prices goes.
